The 2nd Anniversary of Woman Life Freedom

Event: Second Anniversary of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" Movement (MAHSA DAY)
Date:
September 15, 2024
Location:
Queen's Park, Toronto

Details:

On the second anniversary of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement and the death of Mahsa Jina Amini, we unite globally in response to the human rights crisis in Iran.

This protest is a critical stand against the escalating repression, where state policies severely restrict women’s rights. The proposed "Chastity and Hijab" bill imposes draconian penalties, including imprisonment, fines, and bans on public and online activities.

The situation in Iran is dire. In the first 20 days of August 2024, one person was executed every six hours. Execution numbers have risen steadily since 2021, with 834 people executed in 2023 and 395 more as of August 26, 2024. Marginalized groups are disproportionately targeted.

Since 2022, over 500 protesters have been killed, and many more face imminent execution without due process. The regime’s increasing use of the death penalty as a tool of political repression demands urgent global action.

This protest stands in solidarity with the "No Death Penalty Tuesdays" movement—now in its 31st week of hunger strikes across 17 Iranian prisons. We call for an immediate halt to all executions and the abolition of the death penalty in Iran.

Join us on September 15th to demand justice, equality, and an end to the Islamic Republic's oppressive rule.

Stand with us. Your voice matters.
