Behzad Azizi, a 19-year-old Kurdish teen, was killed by direct fire by the IRGC forces.

On March 22, the second day of Nowruz, 19-year-old Behzad Azizi from Baneh in the Kurdistan province was driving back to his village (Darreh Sheikhan) when he was targeted at the Kamiabad checkpoint and shot in the head multiple times by IRGC forces. Behzad was taken to the hospital and died shortly after. Following Behzad’s tragic murder, three IRGC checkpoints were set on fire by demonstrators on March 23, Hengaw reports.

Since the start of the new year in Iran, the targeting of Kurdish citizens has continued as more than 40 citizens were injured by direct fire by IRGC forces. Hengaw reports that IRGC forces opened fire on residents celebrating Nowruz in the cities of Mahabad, Bulbalanabad, Dehgolan, Saqqez, and Sanandaj.
